Paediatric Occupational Therapist

About the Role
  • New opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a leading NDIS registered multidisciplinary allied health service providing therapy for children and families in the South West. This position will be based in Vasse, a short 15 minute drive to the hubs of Busselton and Dunsborough with a flexible start date.

    At Potential Therapy Services for Children we work from a client and family centred model with a focus on function. Our caseload includes children with a wide range of needs varying from children who have a diagnosed disability registered with NDIS funding as well as children with general developmental difficulties. At Potential Therapy for Children we believe therapy not only needs to be client centred, motivating and functional for each individual – but fun as well!

    The Occupational Therapist will deliver services for children aged 0 - 16 years and their families. They will be responsible for performing assessments - both standardised and non-standardised to determine the client's functioning level and developing and implementing individualised intervention plans and therapeutic interventions to enhance client performance across a variety of developmental areas. They will also monitor client's progress throughout intervention working collaboratively with the client and family to review outcomes and modify intervention program as required completing school and home visits based on the need of individual client.
Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor of Science - Occupational Therapy
  • Current registration with Allied Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current Western Australian Drivers Licence and Working With Children Card
  • Experience working with children , preferably children with special needs or requirements
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy theoretical models, principles and evidence based practice
  • Experience working across a range of developmental, behavioural and medical conditions including practical experience with global developmental delay and children on the autism spectrum(desirable)
  • Ability to recognise occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care, client role/interactive skills, processing skills, play, socialisation, school work and written communication
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to work individually as well as an active part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Initiative, strong work ethic, great problem solving skills
  • Strong time management and clinical planning
