Practice Nurse

About the Role
  • New opportunity for a registered nurse or enrolled nurse to join a progressve not for profit organisation delivering GP, nursing, allied health, mental health and aboriginal health services to Narrogin on a part time basis.

    Wheatbelt Health network is located in Northam, with an additional practice in Toodyay and Wundowie as well as supporting the Wheatbelt Aboriginal Health Service(WAHS) in Northam and Narrogin. The full extent of services available include GP, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Diabetes Education, Podiatry, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Pharmacy, Audiology, Mental Health Services, and Pathology Collection. In addition, the Network provides the Integrated Team Care and the Integrated Chronic Disease Care Programs, which collectively support improved health outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged clients. The Network also hosts Paediatric, Psychiatry, and General Physician clinics in Northam as well as delivering projects which support people with a disability to access the NDIS, and to create more inclusive communities. The Network will also be an NDIS provider of allied health therapies in the near future.
Experience & Skills
  • Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse with Unconditional AHPRA registration
  • Significant nursing experience in primary care, or the ability to rapidly acquire and demonstrate such knowledge
  • High level of communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills with a track record of developing strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Strong understanding of Chronic Disease, MBS Health Assessments, Care Plans and Team Care Arrangements
  • The ability to drive the uptake of existing and new services
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team to ensure continuing accreditation to the relevant standards
  • High level computer skills including familiarity with patient information software such as Best Practice(desirable)
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise and organise
  • An understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule items(desirable)
  • Current understanding of vaccines and National Immunisation program certificate(desirable)
What's on Offer
  • Part time position of 0.4 FTE based in Narrogin with scope to increase
  • Competitive remuneration of between $50000-$69999 pro rata plus super dependent on skills and experience
  • Salary Packaging of up to $15 900 per annum
  • Relocation support may be proivded to eligible applicants through Rural Health West

The Central Wheatbelt area covers an area of approximately 85,000 square kilometres. The population is widely dispersed across the region, with major service centres at Narrogin, Northam, Merredin and Moora, with an economy based largely on agriculture.

It is a charming region of small farming communities dotted over a landscape of wheat fields and sheep pasture. The environment of the Wheatbelt is quite varied. The Avon region close to Perth is known for its lush environment, thanks to its relatively high rainfall. The coastal region supports fishing and aquaculture, while the warm, dry inland areas are suited to agricultural industries such as wheat and sheep farming.

The region has extensive educational, health, recreational and cultural services and is home to the C Y O'Connor College of TAFE and Curtin University's Muresk Institute of Agriculture. The region also offers affordable housing and business premises.
