Speech Pathologist

About the Role
  • Due to increased demand we are currently looking to recruit a Speech Pathologist on a full time basis. Based in the coastal town of Geraldton, Western Australia the role will primarily involve the assessment and treatment of infants, preschool and school aged children who are at risk of developing or who already demonstrate developmental delays and specific communication difficulties.

    The Speech Pathologist will service a varied paediatric caseload, including speech, fluency, language and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Services are provided at the clinic, and when required or deemed more appropriate at clients homes, schools, kindergartens and child care centres. You will perform assessments and provide early intervention and ongoing treatment to support patients with long term conditions and disabilities. In addition you will also provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to all clients.
Experience & Skills
  • Australian recognised degree in Speech Pathology
  • Current SPA membership
  • Experience with the assessment and diagnosis of clients with a range of communication disorders, including developmental delays
  • Strong time management and experience with treating and managing a diverse caseload of patients both effectively and ethically
  • Ability to handle difficult and challenging situations with flexibility and adaptability
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing effective working relationships and networks with strong client and customer service skills, including the ability to identify and deliver client's needs
  • Proven ability to work autonomously

Midwest

Covering an area of some 470,000 square kilometres, the Midwest region extends from the outback to the ocean. The economic base for the region centres on mining, agriculture, fishing and tourism. Attractions include internationally recognised windsurfing beaches, wildflowers and a rich maritime history of mutiny and shipwrecks.

The region has a population of more than 50,000 people. More than half is based in the City of Geraldton, the region’s commercial, administrative and service centre, around four hours drive north of Perth.

The coastal part of the region enjoys a Mediterranean climate, while the inland experiences warm, dry summers and cool winters.

There are approximately 80 doctors in the region, including private general practitioners, specialists and doctors employed by the hospital and the Aboriginal Medical Service.
