General Practitioner

DPA/DWS location – Full time (preferred) or Part Time general practitioner required for this Shire-run practice 78 kilometres north of the Perth CBD. There is currently one doctor working at the centre, previously accommodating two GPs. The area, which supports a variety of intensive agriculture, including fruit, vegetables, honey and livestock, is one of the fastest growing rural areas in Western Australia and it is anticipated that the Shire’s population will grow to 6,600 by 2023. The relaxed lifestyle and friendly community offers so much to the individual seeking somewhere different to live and explore with the convenience of nearby Perth. It is an excellent place to raise a family with the district high school catering for students from kindergarten to Year 10. The position offers a great lifestyle choice in a beautiful environment with the full scope of a country general practice and the potential to take over the Centre as a private practice. A Shire-run and facilitated medical centre, this medical centre has been established and run as a private practice for 30+ years and until recently had two GPs servicing the residents of the Shire as well as those who travel from neighbouring shires. The Centre provides a broad range of services including all aspects of general practice such as preventive medicine and mental health care. The practice employs a part time nurse, a Practice Manager and administration staff and has a fully equipped treatment room where minor procedures are carried out. Centrally located on the main street, the practice is fully computerised and has skilled, supportive staff.

The Package
  • Remuneration: Remuneration up to 70% of billings dependent on qualifications, experience and level of supervision if required, potential provision of a subsidised house may be provided. The average GP total earnings from billings is $251,000 - $300,000.

The Central Wheatbelt area covers an area of approximately 85,000 square kilometres. The population is widely dispersed across the region, with major service centres at Narrogin, Northam, Merredin and Moora, with an economy based largely on agriculture.

It is a charming region of small farming communities dotted over a landscape of wheat fields and sheep pasture. The environment of the Wheatbelt is quite varied. The Avon region close to Perth is known for its lush environment, thanks to its relatively high rainfall.
