Securing the right locum for the right practice.
Rural Health West's Locum Placement Service is a FREE service offered by Rural Health West, to help facilitate locum engagements between practices/Aboriginal community controlled services (ACCHS) and locums.
The Locum Placement Service is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and the WA Country Health Service.
We provide support to rural practices and ACCHS in Western Australia to secure high-quality locums for when rural doctors take personal and professional leave, to ensure country communities have continuous medical care.
We understand the specialised skills and requirements needed to work in rural and remote Western Australia and provide a personalised approach to matching locums with practices/ACCHS.
Need a locum for your practice/ACCHS?
Rural Health West maintains a pool of appropriately registered locums to participate in the program and promotes the service nationally to practices/ACCHS.
If you are looking to engage a locum for your practice or ACCHS, we can assist you with:
- advertising your locum vacancy on our website and through fortnightly e-bulletins;
- providing visiting locums with details of the area and practice they will be working in;
- assisting with negotiating fees and placements terms;
- arranging travel for the locum and assisting with payment for travel, where applicable; and
- provide handover guidelines for practices and ACCHS.
What happens next?
Once you have registered a vacancy with us, you can expect your locum position to be advertised under our Current Vacancies within 2-3 business days of us receiving your finalised Locum Request Form. The vacancy will also be included in our latest e-bulletin, sent to our existing registered locums every fortnight.
Our Locum Team will then contact you to discuss any suitable applicants that apply for your vacancy and can work with you to help negotiate fees and Locum Engagement terms and conditions, as well as any travel arrangements and payments for the visiting locum.
