Own your own practice with Shire and business support, and still have time to enjoy your choice of lifestyle.

A unique opportunity has arisen for a General Practitioner (GP) to establish their own solo practice with support the Shire and a larger organisation providing business support.

About the role and general practice

First Health Services is contracted by the Shire of Jerramungup to recruit and support a GP to work in Bremer Bay and Jerramungup, and can provide invaluable support with practice management, financial management, IT and HR. With a very supportive Shire on side, this opportunity would ideally suit a GP wanting an enviable work/life balance, working with challenging rural medicine while enjoying all the benefits of rural and family life.

The practice in Bremer Bay consists of a consultation room within a Western Australian Country Health Service (WACHS) nursing post, with a shared reception area. Jerramungup’s practice is semi-separate from the WACHS facility, with a consultation room and shared treatment room.

Working only four days per week between both locations, this is an opportunity to achieve the perfect work-life balance, as days and hours of work are decided upon by the successful candidate. Providing a minimum of one day per week at each location, you may wish to split your week up evenly between either locations, or let demand drive your work days. Previously, two days at Bremer Bay and two days at Jerramungup has been successful.

A flexible work schedule and no hospital work will leave you plenty of time to explore your surrounds and spend time with your loved ones. Grab your bush-walking boots and head to Bremer Bay and Fitzgerald River National Park, or watch the southern right whales come close to shore at Bremer Bay Canyon.

The package

As a solo GP, you will take home 100 percent of your billings, which will average $300,000 to $350,000. Some operational costs will be your responsibility such as staff wages and stationary.

Being a Shire supported practice, the practice infrastructure will be provided rent free. You will also receive a brand new, modern four bedroom home to reside in, and will be provided a Toyota Prado to use for work and leisure. An annual IT infrastructure allowance for utilities, phone and data will also be provided at the practice and your new home.
