This workshop is run in partnership with the Clinical Training and Evaluation Centre (CTEC)
The updated Cutting Edge: Advanced Procedures workshop is designed to provide participants with a highly relevant cadaveric dissection focused program. New procedures include ectopic pregnancy, open appendicectomy and open bowel repair. An expansion of urology and podiatry procedures contributes to a valuable opportunity to refine and consolidate surgical techniques under the expert guidance of experienced faculty.
This excellent advanced level workshop aims to equip GPs with a reliable foundation in procedural skills which in turn supports a greater level of service to patients and the community. It does not provide certification of competence in any of the procedures outlined and practised. Limited positions are available for Observers, and for Theatre Nurses in the role of assistant.
Procedures are first covered by a didactic presentation followed by a practical cadaveric session with only two participants per station. Each participant will have access to dedicated cadaveric materials.
Presentation and Practical Cadaveric Sessions:
- Ectopic pregnancy procedure
- Open appendicectomy
- Open bowel repair (closing an injury of enterotomy)
