Healthcare experiences for students.

Go Rural is an annual event that showcases the rewards of being a rural health professional and offers medical, nursing and allied health students the chance to experience multidisciplinary healthcare and network with health professionals in a country community.

2017 Go Rural Western Australia

The 2017 Go Rural event was held in the Wheatbelt town of Moora. A group of 14 final year medical, nursing and allied health students from Western Australia took part in the three-day rural immersion experience . They visited local health services, met some of the local farming community and participated in skills workshops and medical emergency scenarios. 

Go Rural is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health through Rural Health Workforce Australia.

2016 Go Rural Western Australia

The 2016 Western Australian Go Rural event was held over three days in Harvey in the south west region of Western Australia and was attended by 17 final year medical, nursing and allied health students from Western Australian universities.  The focus of the weekend was on the importance of multidisciplinary health care in regional, rural and remote locations.  Over the three days, students completed challenging activities which included suturing skills workshop, laughter yoga workshop, hospital and town tour and a quiz night. A Pilates class and a young professionals networking evening were also held over the weekend.
