Rural Health West complies with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Privacy Amendment Act 2000 in the collection, storage and disposal of data.
Information is collected to:
- maintain the databases operated by Rural Health West to meet legislative obligations, to conduct its business processes and to undertake medical workforce planning; and
- assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of services provided or facilitated by Rural Health West to assist in welfare, well- being, professional development and workforce support programs for rural doctors.
Personal information may also be used to administer, monitor and evaluate Rural Health West services, and gather, aggregate and report de-identified statistical information and assist other agencies communicate relevant health and medical information in an efficient manner. Aggregated (and de-identified) data may be provided to relevant agencies for the purposes of facilitating relevant health and medical research, planning or interventions.
Information gathered regarding attitudes and beliefs will only be disclosed to third parties in de-identified form and where such data is for the purpose of assisting in or developing services and service delivery considered to be for the benefit of clients and stakeholders.
Beyond these terms, information will not be shared with other third parties without the consent of the individuals or organisations supplying that information.
Rural Health West aims to ensure that personal information gathered and retained is accurate, complete and current, and maintained in a secure environment.
