Financial Support

International Medical Graduates recruited under the Mediventure program who agree to work in rural WA for a period of six months or more can have up to $2000 of their airfare to Australia reimbursed. Travel costs of family members are not covered. Rural Health West will reimburse:

  • $1000 (or full amount if less than $1000) within 30 days of arrival
  • $1000 or balance (if under $1000) after 3 months of service.

If the doctor works as a roving locum, Rural Health West covers travel expenses to assignments. The rural practice employing the locum is responsible for providing accommodation and a vehicle during the locum assignment if one is required. Roving locums are also eligible for a bonus of $3000 after each 12 weeks of locum work.
