Workforce

Rural Health West works closely with a range of stakeholders to ensure that the needs of the rural medical workforce are addressed. In addition, Rural Health West supports this workforce in a number of ways:

  • opportunities for regular medical screening checks through the  Care and Co program
  • provision of locum cover for doctors taking leave
  • access to financial assistance and grants
  • facilitation of rural specialist medical services through the Outreach in the Outback Program
  • development of alternative models for sustainable General Practice
  • support for specific workforce groups such as registrars, specialists, female GPs and doctors working in Aboriginal health
  • provision of information and professional support to doctors by the CEO, Medical Advisers and staff of Rural Health West
