RMFN Telephone Counselling Service

Freecall 1800 218 176

Feeling stressed…anxious…depressed or just in need of a sympathetic listener?

This service provides the opportunity for rural/remote doctors and their families to turn to a professional counsellor for help and advice when the going gets tough in their own lives. It provides ready access, 7 days a week, to a non-local, caring professional who can talk through personal and/or emotional issues, however big or small.

If necessary, the counsellor can assist with the identification of more serious issues and assist with referral to appropriate professionals.

The RMFN family counsellor is Carol Reid.  Carol is a qualified counsellor (BA & Post Grad Dip Counselling), a medical spouse, an Anglican Church Minister and is familiar with issues facing rural medical families.

How does it work?

Phone FREECALL 1800 218 176 (some charges apply from mobiles)

Call diverts to a dedicated line at a professional answering service. Ask to speak to the RMFN Family Counsellor and leave a return phone number. The answering service will phone Carol Reid, who will endeavour to ring you back within the hour.

Phone as often as you like, but if more specific professional help is needed, Carol will help you to plan further action.

Who can use the service?

Doctors and their spouses, partners and children living in rural/remote locations in WA

How much does it cost?

This service is free. All telephone consultation costs will be paid for by the RMFN. To protect confidentiality, names and other identifying information WILL NOT BE passed on to the RMFN at any time. If follow-up face-to-face consultations are needed, Carol will enter into a private arrangement with the client, who will then pay for his/her ongoing consultations.
