Rural Health West is committed to supporting students interested in rural health careers.

Rural Health West supports all health students in a wide variety of ways, if you are interested in a rural career, and want to know which road to take, contact our Workforce Development Project Officer.  

The Rural Health West Future Workforce Program encourages health and medical students to country Western Australia, by promoting rural and remote health careers to university students and post graduate health professionals.

It provides assistance to students through information, resources and opportunities for rural experiences. A number of fully funded scholarships for students to attend Rural Health West conferences are also available.

Rural Health West administers the WAALHIIBE Student Rural Health Club. WAALHIIBE is one of 29 rural health student clubs funded by the Australian Government through the National Rural Health Students Network (NRHSN). WAALHIIBE provides opportunities for students to attend health events, conferences, workshops and festivals, combined with networking, scholarship information and great rural experiences.

WAALHIIBE works in collaboration with the other Western Australian student rural health clubs, SPINRPHEX (Students and Practitioners Interested iN Rural Practice Health Educations Xcetera) for nursing, dental and medical students, and KRASH (Kimberley Regional Alliance for Students in Health) for students studying all health disciplines at The University of Notre Dame Australia in the Kimberley. To learn more about rural health student clubs, please visit the WAALHIIBE website.
 
 
GP STAKEHOLDER GROUP
 
 The GP Stakeholder Group was established in 2009 and is a coalition between the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, the Australian Medical Association (WA), Rural Health West, the WA Country Health Service, Western Australian General Practice Education and Training and the Western Australian General Practice Network.
 
The group works together to support the marketing and recruitment of General Practice in Western Australia. The group aims to increase the profile of General Practice in Western Australia and aims for continuous improvement in the recruitment of doctors into the General Practice speciality.
