Emergency Medicine Courses
These courses cover common and life-threatening topics which require ongoing review and practice in order for GPs to maintain acceptable knowledge and skill levels.
A partnership has been established between Rural Health West and individual Divisions or Networks of General Practice in WA to deliver training in regional centres. Under this collaborative arrangement, Rural Health West provides an annual grant to aid regional GP Divisions/Networks to host one courseper year as part of their annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program.
The training courses developed to date are as follows:
- Cardiac Emergencies Course
- Toxicological Emergencies Course
- Neurological Emergencies Course
- Orthopaedic Emergencies Course
- Frontline Gynaecology
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (this course was developed by King Edward Memorial Hospital)
Rural Health West also facilitates GP attendance at the following course, subject to availability:
For further information or bookings please contact via email Tansy England or telephone (08) 6389 4500.
Retraining grants are available for GPs wishing to attend a number of other high-quality training courses. As these courses are administered by other agencies, GPs must apply for places directly with the relevant training agency and then apply to Rural Health West for a retraining grant to cover registration costs. For further information on retraining grants, contact Val Ducie or telephone (08) 6389 4500.
