How to view the Rural Doctors Broadcasts
The Rural Doctors Broadcasts are transmitted on the Westlink network from 7:30pm to 8:30pm on the first Tuesday of each month from February to November.
Westlink is an encoded satellite television network run by the Western Australian Department of Local Government and Regional Development. To watch the programs you will need access to a suitably configured satellite receiver. There are several ways you can arrange access.
Rural Health West Website
If you have a high speed internet connection you are able to view the Rural Doctors Broadcasts via webcast on the Rural Health West website.
Rural Health Education Foundation
Our broadcasts are available at all Rural Health Education Foundation (RHEF) viewing sites. RHEF have over 80 viewing sites around Western Australia.
RHEF are another excellent source of continuing health education and collegial support for rural and remote medical practitioners.

Home or Practice
If you have a satellite dish and decoder, or you’re willing to install one, then you can receive our programs directly at your home or practice.
Rural Health Education Foundation offer assistance in organising installation and currently offer subsidies to eligible GPs, allied health professionals and health organisations to help with setup costs. Once the required hardware is installed there are no ongoing costs.

The cost of installing a satellite dish and decoder may be tax deductible.
Hospitals
All regional hospitals in Western Australia are equipped with a satellite receiver and decoder configured to receive our broadcasts. Access to a viewing room may need to be arranged in advance.

Telecentres
The Western Australian Department of Local Government and Regional Development support Telecentres in many towns across Western Australia. These centres are equipped with satellite decoders to access our programs and also provide many other useful services including high speed internet access and teleconferencing facilities.
