In this broadcast Rural Health West explores a number of support services and resources available to rural Western Australian general practitioners providing care for indigenous patients including:
- WA Country Health Service’s Country Health Connections
- Derbal Yerrigan Health Service’s heart health program, “For our People, By our People”
- The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet
In addition, Dr Alex Balzarelli joins Dr Christine Clinch and Craig Allen from The University of Western Australia’s School of Primary, Aboriginal and Rural Health Care to discuss cultural awareness and the support and mentoring of indigenous medical students.
The aim of this Rural Doctors Broadcast is to provide rural and remote general practitioners with information on:
- Support services and resources available to assist with care of indigenous patients
- Positive, personal experiences of providing care to indigenous patients in rural and remote Western Australia
- Considerations for general practitioners mentoring medical students and registrars
