In this broadcast Dr Olga Ward will be talking to Dr Gary Wilkes, Medical Director of St John Ambulance about trauma and emergency medicine. They will discuss topics including:
- New Early Management of Severe Trauma and Advanced Trauma Life Support recommendations
- Securing an airway
- Head injury
- Managing large haemorrhages
- Protocols for mass casualty events
We will also catch up with clinical psychologist Dr Darryl Menaglio to discuss psychiatric emergencies and patient management including:
- Identifying and managing patients at risk of suicide
- ‘Talking down’ an aggressive patient
- Managing a manipulative patient
