This broadcasts focuses on Oral Health. Joining us to discuss a number of topics are Professor Marc Tennant and Dr Ian Newnham.
Professor Tennant is the Director of the Centre for Rural and Remote Oral Health and Dr Newnham is a Periodontist in private practice in Perth.
Topics discussed will include:
- Dental pain and oral infections
- Broken teeth (trauma)
- Empty socket syndrome
- Use of antibiotics and analgesics
- Management of patients with limited access to dental care
Indigenous Australians carry a disproportionate burden of disease in just about every area of health including Oral Health. We looked at how some Aboriginal communities have teamed up with the Centre for Rural and Remote Oral Health to provide effective, timely and accessible dental care to alleviate some of that burden of disease.
Dr Kurt Gebaur also spoke to us about a range of dermatological conditions that are part of the Oral Health picture. Dr Gebaur is a dermatologist and clinical lecturer with a practice in Fremantle.
This broadcast has been allocated two CPD points by The RACGP and one CPD point by ACRRM. CPD points are not guaranteed and are subject to review by both agencies.
