Audio Only (ipod)

Rather than a studio panel this broadcast, we go out to some remote areas and talk to the people at the front line of producing services to indigenous people.

We hear from the people involved in the Kimberly Renal Support Service. This service provides patient support, promotes early intervention and educates clients and health professionals to better plan for and manage renal disease in the Kimberly.

Marc Tennent from the Centre for Rural and Remote Oral Health speaks to us about indigenous oral health and will discuss the role GPs and all allied health professionals can play in identifying and managing foot problems to avoid amputation.

The Kimberly Aboriginal Medical Service Council and the Western Australian Country Medicine Association have teamed up to develop a standard drug list for use at all clinics and hospitals across the Kimberly. Corina Pesich and Vicki Ah Chee from the Derby Aboriginal Health Service tell us about the need for the drug list and how it was implemented.

Deborah Schoen, a podiatrist from Royal Perth Hospital and Lesley Newcombe, a podiatrist working in the Kimberly about the role all health professionals can play in the early diagnosis and referral of problems that could result in the loss of limb.

This broadcast has been allocated two CPD points by The RACGP and one CPD point by ACRRM. CPD points are not guaranteed and are subject to review by both agencies.
