Whether playing for fitness, pleasure or social reasons, sporting and physical activities are an important part of most Australians lives. When a sports person gets injuries, getting back to do what they love is their number one priority. This broadcast looks at different ways to treat the most common sports injuries GPs will face, and the best and safest management plans to get patients back on track. Dr Ken Maguire joins us to discuss this.
Dr Ken Maguire is a Consultant Physician in Rheumatic Diseases and Sports Medicine. Dr Maguire was the inaugural Medical Co-ordinator of the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra in 1982. He is the Medical Co-ordinator for the Perth Glory soccer team, Medical Advisor for the Fitness Institute of Western Australia and a position on the Medical Advisory Panel for the West Australian Institute of Sport.
