Rural Emergency Assessment, Credentialing and Training (REACT) course
The REACT (Rural Emergency Assessment, Credentialing and Training) Course, designed by Prof Tony Celenza assists rural and remote Western Australian medical practitioners to maintain knowledge and skills as required by WA Country Health Service for emergency credentialing. Participants of the two day emergency assessment course are predominately involved in hands on skills stations and simulated scenarios
Length Two days
Accreditation RACGP - 80 points   //   ACRRM  - 22 PRPD
Rural Procedural Grants Program $4,000 for eligible general practitioners
Eligibility Rural and remote Western Australian general and medical practitioners
Fee $1650.00
2012 locations and dates Bunbury      24 and 25 March
Northam     23 and 24 June
Kalgoorlie  8 and 9 September
Albany         24 and 25 November
Formal assessment components CPR     ALS     AED     Trauma     Paediatrics

 

 

Rural Health West Education workshop: Airway, Respiratory and Cardiovascular emergencies
A weekend workshop that supports both currently practicing rural and remote general practitioners and urban general practitioners who provide rural locum placements, to refresh emergency skills and knowledge, so as to confidently manage emergency cases in rural locations.
Length Two days
Accreditation RACGP - 80 points   //   ACRRM  - 60 PRPD
Rural Procedural Grants Program $4,000 for eligible general practitioners
Eligibility Western Australian General Practitioner and General Practitioner's undertaking rural locum placements organised through Rural Health West.
Fee $660 per participant
2012 locations and dates Perth 11 and 12 February
Perth  9 and 10 June
Perth  3 and 4 November

Rural Health West Education workshop: Emergency Airway Skills and Crisis Simulation Management
Paticipants of the Emergency Airway Skills and Crisis Simulation Management workshop develop and practice skills essential for good outcomes in unexpected crisis, particularly with problem airways. Delivered in regional Western Australia this workshop has a heavy emphasis on teamwork and organisation of medical emergency teams. It incorporates presentations, skill stations and scenario-based crisis with simulation manikins (Sim Man and Baby).
Length One day
Accreditation RACGP - 40 points   //   ACRRM  - 30 PRPD
Rural Procedural Grants Program $2,000 for eligible general practitioners
Eligibility Priority given to regional GP anaesthetists and theatre staff where workshop delivered. Should places allow emergency department staff may attend.

Rural Health West Education workshop: Obstetrics 
Assisting rural and remote GP obstetricians and midwives to work as a team to recognise and make appropriate decisions, thus effectively managing obstetric cases and emergencies.
Length One day
Accreditation RACGP - 40 points   //   ACRRM  - 30 PRPD
Rural Procedural Grants Program $2,000 for eligible general practitioners
Eligibility Priority given to regional GP Obstetricians and Midwives where workshop delivered. Should places allow emergency department staff may attend.
