  •  Advance Health Directive
    New laws giving adults the right to determine their future medical treatment in an Advanced Health Directive came into effect in Western Australia on 15 February 2010.
    Competent adults are now able to document their future wishes to consent to or refuse medical treatments, in a legally-recognised form called an Advance Health Directive.

  • Outreach in the Outback
    Medical Specialist Outreach Assistance Program
    Service planning/funding round 2010
    Outreach in the Outback encompasses several measures funded by the Australian Government through the Medical Specialist Outreach Assistance Program (MSOAP). Outreach in the Outback services are funded and reviewed on an annual basis.
    Rural Health West will soon be inviting service proposals to deliver Outreach in the Outback and Outreach in the Outback - Indigenous Chronic Disease services in 2010/2011.
    A funding round will commence on 15 March 2010 and Resource/Funding Packs will be mailed to all current contracted providers and identified potential providers. 
    The Resource Pack will soon be available on the Rural Health West website under www.ruralhealthwest.com.au > Support > Workforce > MSOAP: Outreach in the Outback.

  • Education workshops

  • Rural GP Locum Program
    The National Rural Locum Program is an element of the 2009-2010 Rural Workforce Strategy to improve rural and remote health workforce shortages. The program comprises of The Specialist Obstetrician Locum Scheme, the GP Anaesthetist Locum Scheme and the Rural GP Locum Program. These programs have been developed to ensure rural doctors are able to obtain adequate time for rest and professional development.
    This new program will complement Rural Health West’s existing Bush Locum service.

  • New Rural Health West Board Member appointed
    The Board is pleased to announce that Ms Karen Brown was selected as the Appointed Director at the December Board meeting. The Board welcomes Ms Brown and looks forward to her strategic input into the future direction of Rural Health West.
