Mr Ian Taylor   
(Chair) B. Econs (Hons) UWA

Ian Taylor worked for the State Public Service principally Treasury until he was elected in Kalgoorlie’s By Election of 1981. Ian represented Kalgoorlie until 1996.
During this time he was Minister in a range of portfolios including Health, Police and Conservation and Development. He was also Deputy Premier and Leader of the Opposition. Ian is currently working in the fishing industry and on a small number of Boards and Committees.

Dr Malcolm Hodsdon 
(Deputy Chair) FRACGP, FACRRM, Dip. Obs. RCOG, MBBS

Malcolm has his own general practice in Kalgoorlie / Boulder, employs three Overseas Trained Doctors and is a visiting medical practitioner at the Kalgoorlie Hospital.  Malcolm is currently Deputy Chair of the Goldfields Esperance GP Network, Secretary of Rural Doctors Association of Western Australia and Chair of the Eastern Goldfields Medical Association.  He was a Councillor on the Town of Kalgoorlie from 1983 to 1989 and spent a further three years from 1990 to 1993 as a Councillor of the City of Kalgoorlie / Boulder, which included one year, 1992 to 1993, as Deputy Mayor.

John Ireland 
(Company Secretary)  AASA and ACIS

John Ireland is a retired accountant and company director. John was a member of the Australian Society of Accountants as well as a member of the Australian Chartered Institute of Company Secretaries. He has extensive experience in financial and company management and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. John is currently a Board Member and company secretary of GP Down South.

 Mark Grime 
 RN, BN, GAICD

Mark Grime was appointed Chief Executive Officer of St John of God Hospital, Bunbury in May 2000 and in May 2006 added the new role of Executive Director, WA Regional Health Services, with overall responsibility for managing the group's regional health services in Western Australia, including St John of God Hospital, Geraldton. Mark is a director of Rural Health West and Deputy Chairman of the South West Area Consultative Committee.


Dr Karl Staer
MBBS, DCH, DRANZCOG, FRACGP, FACRRM, Grad. Dip. RGP

Karl is a general practitioner based in Esperance, with an interest in surgery and obstetrics. He has had a long association with Rural Health West (formerly WACRRM) and Divisions of General Practice/GP Networks.
Karl is passionate about unity and equity, and brings significant board experience and corporate memory to Rural Health West.

 

Dr Stephen Langford
MBBS FAFPHM FRACGP MRACMA DipRACOG DipAvMed(RCPLond)

Stephen Langford is Medical Director of the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia.  He trained initially as a rural procedural GP and commenced with the RFDS in Port Hedland in 1983.  He is a Public Health Physician and has been involved with WACRRM since its inception and was previously a board member.  He has significant experience in the challenges of recruiting and retaining doctors in rural and remote areas.

 Karen Brown
BA, Dip Ed (UWA)

Karen has a background in Communications and Marketing. Karen spent 16 years as a print journalist at the West Australian newspaper where she reported on a broad range of issues, edited several features sections and became the newspaper’s first female Chief of Staff, then Deputy Editor. She also served as the Western Australian Editor of The Australian newspaper and as Principal Consultant at Halden Burns. 
Karen Brown is the Principal Policy and Communications Adviser to the Leader of the Opposition.
