About the Role
  • We are seeking an experienced dentist to join our team in a modern and busy Broome Dental Practice. This position will suit someone with a desire to live in a remote town and/or wanting a “Broome Time” lifestyle at this desirable travel destination. Broome is only a short flight from Perth and Darwin. Broome is a growing and vibrant regional centre with cafes, restaurants and the famous sunset walks on Cable Beach. While Broome is best known as the Gate Way to the Kimberleys, Broome is a growing hub for offshore development and many tourist and other industrial ventures.

    Our practice is focused on “Kind and Compassionate” dentistry and we provide the highest quality services in a caring and gentle manner. Your days will be challenging with a wide range of cases. You will join a team with the current Principal Dentist, who is transitioning to a part time role, and a therapist /hygienist in the smaller second surgery. We provide a comfortable, casual and calming environment with modern equipment including digital x-ray & OPG, Kavo chair inc integrated monitor & intra-oral camera, class B autoclaves, rotary endo and ceiling mounted monitors for patient entertainment.
Experience & Skills
  • The ideal candidate will work as part of a small team providing the very best dental care to the people of Broome/Kimberleys, FIFO workers and tourists. You must be caring, ethical and able to perform all aspects of general dentistry to a high standard
  • Experience in endo and oral surgery is highly desirable as specialist treatment is generally not readily accessible. Crown and Bridge work is minimised with a preference given to composite restorations when appropriate
  • This position requires AHPRA registration (no restrictions), ADA WA Membership and the Right to live in Australia. A minimum of 5 years private dental experience (less may be considered given practical experience) , Police clearance, current First Aid Certificate re CPR & evidence of current Hepatitis B status and general vaccinations are required
  • It is critical that the Dentist has a high level of personal and professional integrity and is truly a kind and compassionate person who genuinely cares about their patients by striving for 100% effort in all treatment, every day
What's on Offer
  • This position would suit someone looking for long term employment with a minimum of a 2 year contract with remuneration being 36-40% commission depending on level of experience. Given the existing high and growing demand for services and current rates, your financial rewards will be high. This offer is inclusive of superannuation and all statutory leaves & entitlement. Salary sacrifice is available for accommodation and electricity costs. Other benefits may be negotiated for longer term contracts. The surgery is open 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm Saturday. Your 9 day fortnight roster will require some evenings and some/alternate Saturday mornings. Hours are negotiable as the Principle Dentist's roster is flexible.

Kimberley

The Kimberley is located in the north-west region of Western Australia. It covers an area of 421,451 square kilometres, an area three times the size of England, but is home to only 35,748 people. A relatively high proportion of the residents are Aboriginal Australians. The population swells seasonally with an influx of tourists and a mobile working population.

The major towns of the Kimberley include Broome and Derby on the west coast, with Kununurra and Wyndham in the east. Within this vast landscape there is a huge diversity of scenery to be explored and adventures to be experienced. Broome enjoys a laid-back tropical ambience whilst the ranges of the East Kimberley showcase the awe-inspiring grandeur and beauty that nature has created. Travels across the Kimberley will yield tropical beaches, rugged ranges, spectacular gorges, waterfalls, caves, pockets of lush rainforest and an astounding variety of wildlife.

The region has a thriving economy, based on both tourism and the richness of its natural resources. It enjoys regular commercial flights from Perth and interstate capital cities. The Kimberley has a tropical summer and dry winter and this diverse climate changes the landscape from season to season.

There are approximately 70 general practitioners including GP registrars in the region, nine in private practice, 33 in Aboriginal Medical Services, two in the Royal Flying Doctor Service and 26 hospital based general practitioners.
