Registered Nurse - Aged Care

About the Role We are currently seeking to recruit an aged care experienced Registered Nurse to work at our Juniper Numbala Nunga and Juniper Ngamang Bawoona sites, situated within the Kimberley area of Western Australia in the town of Derby. Our Derby sites provide care for up to 43 residents in a flexible and culturally appropriate manner. This role is responsible for assessing residents' needs, in conjunction with other healthcare professionals, and for the planning, implementation and evaluation of residents' care plans. Experience in the supervision of care staff will be highly regarded. Key Responsibilities of this role: • Implementation and development of resident care plans • Respond to the requests and concerns of families and carers in liaison with the Residential Manager • Liaise with appropriate health care professionals to deliver quality care to the residents • Develop and maintain the effective performance of other care and service staff • Liaise with the Residential Manager to identify the training needs of clinical and care staff • Ensure full compliance with and maintenance of aged care standards
Experience & Skills • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery board of Australia • Knowledge and experience in the provision of clinical care • Planning and co-ordinating skills in matters related to delivery of care • Ability and skills to guide staff in wound and diabetes care • Sound knowledge of medication systems • Excellent communication, problem solving, interpersonal and team membership skills

The Kimberley is located in the north-west region of Western Australia. It covers an area of 421,451 square kilometres, an area three times the size of England, but is home to only 35,748 people. A relatively high proportion of the residents are Aboriginal Australians. The population swells seasonally with an influx of tourists and a mobile working population.

The major towns of the Kimberley include Broome and Derby on the west coast, with Kununurra and Wyndham in the east. Within this vast landscape there is a huge diversity of scenery to be explored and adventures to be experienced. Broome enjoys a laid-back tropical ambience whilst the ranges of the East Kimberley showcase the awe-inspiring grandeur and beauty that nature has created. The Kimberley has a tropical summer and dry winter and this diverse climate changes the landscape from season to season.

There are approximately 70 general practitioners including GP registrars in the region, nine in private practice, 33 in Aboriginal Medical Services, two in the Royal Flying Doctor Service and 26 hospital based general practitioners.
