Are you keen to explore a rural medical career and find out what opportunities and pathways are on offer in country Western Australia (WA)?
If it’s clinical diversity with a variety of experiences across general practice, hospital and community settings, procedural specialties or just a work/life balance with flexibility options through your working life – a rural career can provide these opportunities.
The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia, WA Country Health Service (WACHS), Western Australian General Practice Education and Training Ltd (WAGPET), WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) and Rural Health West have partnered to facilitate this inaugural Rural Pathways for Doctors in Training and Students workshop. The collaboration is committed to ensuring this workshop provides and equips junior doctors and medical students with the right knowledge, skills and support networks to explore and navigate a career in a rural location.
This workshop also provides attendees with the chance to connect with rural medical practitioners who are fulfilling their career and lifestyle ambitions in country WA. This is an opportunity to learn from them and find out the answers to the questions about the best way to have a rewarding medical career.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
• attend a 'career' speed mentoring session with experienced medical practitioners and agency representatives
• have access to rural GPs and specialists who live and work in rural WA
• attend a panel discussion about rural pathways
• meet with specialist training providers and colleges
• participate in hands-on clinical skills stations
