"I thought it was excellent because of the way the clinical scenarios were integrated into the activities...just reminding me of the ‘ABC’, and if something happens I can do the best I can. I hadn’t been to Margaret River before, but what I saw and what was on offer, it was a fantastic destination." - 2016 conference delegate
AWESoME Conference 2016 has now concluded. Please contact the Events team for information or to express interest in the 2017 conference.
"I would recommend this conference to doctors and nurses that are interested in rural and remote practice or to just remember what emergency scenarios might look like if you haven’t seen one for a while." - 2016 conference delegate.
The conference was attended by 20 doctors and 6 nurses who had the opportunity to update their emergency medicine skills and knowledge whilst exploring the Margaret River region. The outdoor adventure component consisted of hiking, abseiling down cliffs, kayaking and caving. As well as attending an ALS course, each small group had to manage the logistical and clinical aspects of a simulated emergency scenario that occurred during the activities. Rural Health West is the leading education provider for this unique emergency wilderness medicine conference in Australia.
