Practice and Business Support Service
The Practice and Business Support Service provides information and resources to facilitate the set-up and operation of an effective rural general practice.
Resources are produced to assist with the day-to-day operations of a rural general practice, available through fact sheets, the Rural Health West website, a monthly electronic newsletter and via the Practice Management Business Support Tool produced to assist with the day-to-day operations of a rural general practice.
Practice Assessment Service
This personalised and free service aims to assist rural general practices with revenue enhancement, general practice accreditation and to implement new and streamlined business processes. The practice and business support team will visit your rural practice, provide a written report and follow up assistance with recommendations in areas such as:

- Health promotion activities
- Medicare Benefits Schedule
- Patient recalls
- Patient registers
- Practice Incentives Program
- Revenue enhancement
- Utilising the practice nurse

Rural Health West offers a free service to rural general practices providing assistance with any aspect of accreditation or reaccreditation against The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Standards for General Practices: Fourth edition.
The Rural Health West Practice and Business support team can visit your practice at any stage of the accreditation process to provide guidance towards achieving accreditation or reaccreditation. The team can also conduct an on-site mock accreditation audit prior to your accreditation or reaccreditation survey visit. Policy and Procedure Practice Manual
The Policy and Procedure Practice Manual is aimed at rural and remote general practices. The manual provides a guide and instructions to document the policies and procedures of your general practice with templates provided that can be altered to accommodate your practice's specific circumstances.
Each chapter of the manual correlates with a section of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Standards for General Practices: Fourth edition. Furthermore, each 'criterion' of the standards is addressed within the related chapter.
