Rural Health West employs a Medical Director and several Medical Advisors, who provide clinical guidance and advice across a range of programs.

The Rural Health West Medical Advisors are all currently practising general practitioners, who have experience in, or still working in, rural practice. They have first-hand knowledge of the particular needs and challenges that rural medical practitioners may have and work closely with Rural Health West across a range of programs.

In brief they provide the following:

  • Clinical advice in the development of Rural Health West education and professional development opportunities
  • Advice in relation to suitability of locum and permanent placements for doctors planning to work in rural Western Australia
  • Support and advice for doctors currently working in rural Western Australia
  • Mentoring for doctors and medical students interesting in pursuing a rural career
